In 2017, I became ill and per doctors’ orders was not allowed to physically go to the office. I was able to work from home but my former employer did not allow that as an option so I was forced to take FMLA. That was the defining moment in my life as I realized I needed to do something different.
Part of being an executive/administrative assistant is ensuring that the day-to-day tasks are completed on time. It’s anticipating the needs of the people you work with before they know what their needs are. It’s working as a team and doing your part to ensure their success as well as the growth of the business. This is what I love about being an executive/administrative assistant, and when I realized I could work as a virtual assistant I knew I had found my passion.
I had no idea how to start a virtual assistant business but being the resourceful person I am, and by doing the research, Executive VA Solutions was born. For two years, I worked a full-time job and focused on my virtual assistant business in the evenings and on weekends. I had a few part-time clients over the course of the first two years, which met my needs and provided me with some extra income.
In 2019, I decided to rename and rebrand my business. I wanted to incorporate my last name in my business name, and I wanted it to portray a specific message, which is collaborating. Thus, King Collaborations was born. Collaborating and working as a team is important to the success of my clients and their business.
In November 2020, during the COVID-9 pandemic, I quit my day job to devote my time and attention to my business. Because I’ve been a notary for 15 years, I decided to expand my skills and become a certified notary signing agent. I now offer general notary services in addition to working as a notary signing agent.
Being a virtual assistant has allowed me to utilize all my skills including some I did not realize I had. I have and continue to do research, train, and educate myself on the many different aspects of being a virtual assistant. I continue to learn the software, programs, and skills necessary to perform my job as a virtual assistant to provide my clients with the services and skills they require to ensure their needs are being met.
I enjoy working with a variety of clients and learning about their different businesses, and the ins and outs of how they operate. My passion is helping others, which is why I loved being an executive/administrative assistant. Owning a virtual assistant business provides me with the opportunity to continue helping others while also allowing me the flexibility that I want and need in my life.
In my personal life, I am married to the love of my life. We met later in life and I am truly blessed to be married to my best friend. I have 3 beautiful and amazingly talented daughters, and 5 of the most precious grandchildren a “Grammy” could ever ask for.
My husband and I love to taking road trips, paddle boarding, and riding our tricycles around our neighborhood with our little dogs “Trouble Bubble” and “Rocco Taco”, who ride in the rear basket.
I have a passion for cooking and most weekends you’ll find me in the kitchen creating a new dish or making one that is tried and true. During the summer months, I love to smoke brisket, ribs, and other meats and entertain family and friends. My husband loves to garden and every year we grow different types of tomatoes and peppers that I use to make my homemade salsa. And, around the time fall starts to make an appearance, I make and sell a variety of homemade goods including different variations of brittle, chicken pot pies, green chili, and homemade salsa.
I hope learning a little bit about me helps you with your decision in choosing me as your virtual assistant!
Always remember to make it a beautiful day!
Sherry
